LWIRO'S RESIDENTS BEFORE CONFISCATION

All of CRPL's residents have been illegally removed from their forest homes, often their family groups have been killed or injured during this process. Most adult animals are sold as bushmeat and consumed either fresh or smoked so that the meat can travel long distances. The infants are too small to eat and are usually sold as pets. While most infants will die due to insufficient care, some will be rescued by the Congolese Wildlife Authority (ICCN) and become residents of the CRPL.
